The report, which was researched jointly by Amnesty International and African Resources Watch (Afrewatch), examines the conditions under which artisanal miners extract a significant proportion of the world's cobalt supply before tracing the route of the ore to market. It is the first comprehensive account of how cobalt from artisanal mines in the DRC reaches the supply chain of multinational companies, including some of the world's richest electronics companies. The report determines the extent to which companies have put in place the necessary due diligence measures to find out the origin of the cobalt in their products and the conditions under which this ore is mined and traded.
